STD - Sexually Transmitted Diseases or Sexually Transmitted Infections
are those diseases that are spread through Sexual Activity - Vaginal, Oral or Anal.

Here are the most Common Sexually Transmitted Infections and their Symptoms:
1. Chlamydia (Caused by Bacteria)
Transmitted through Sexual Activity with infected person(s) - Oral, Vaginal or Anal.
Most of the times, Chlamydia is asymptomatic - shows no symptoms. When they show up, following are those that are commonly seen:
a. Pain when Urinating
b. Discharge from Penis and/or Swollen Testicles
2. Gonorrhoea (Caused by Bacteria)
Transmitted through Sexual Activity with infected person(s) - Oral, Vaginal or Anal.
a. Pain when urinating
b. Green / White / Yellow discharge from Penis
c. Swollen Testicles
Treatment for Gonorrhoea is often given as treatment for Chlamydia since both of the diseases often occur together.
3. Trichomoniasis:
Symptoms: Most of the times, infection person may not show any symptoms. If they do, itching, burning and discharge from Urethra can be seen.
4. HIV - Human Immuno-deficiency Virus
Symptoms: After unprotected Sex, Symptoms may start showing in 2-4 weeks. Most often, the flu like symptoms are mis-diagnosed. It is always best to get tested for HIV after a month after having unprotected sex with a stranger / unknown person.
5. Herpes (Caused by Virus)
a. Painful blisters on exposed parts of the body. (Penis / Vagina etc)
b. In Men sores can be found on Penis, Buttocks, scrotum, Anus, inside urethra or on thighs.
c. In Oral Herpes - Sores occur on lips and around mouth. This can spread through Kissing.
HSV - Herpes Simplex Virus - cannot be cured. It persists for life once acquired.
